Virtualization Certified

RS815+/RS815RP+ provides seamless storage solutions for virtualization environments, including VMware, Citrix, and Hyper-V. Being VMware vSphere 5 and VAAI integration certified, RS815+/RS815RP+ helps offload specific storage operations and optimizes computation power for unparalleled performance and efficiency in VMware environments. As the centralized storage of a virtual environment, RS815+/RS815RP+ enables virtual machine migration, allowing movement from server to server whilst eliminating service downtime and disruption to user. Windows Offloaded Data Transfer (ODX) and Synology Advanced LUN support extremely improves the efficiency on massive data transfer and migration.

Robust & Affordable Scalability Up to 48TB

With an optional Synology expansion unit RX415, storage volume expansion for Synology RS815+/RS815RP+ is fast and easy. RX415 securely connects to a RS815+/RS815RP+ via an eSATA cable with specially-designed locking connectors and expands the existing storage on Synology RS815+/RS815RP+ up to a maximum raw capacity of 48TB.

Fit to Business Environment

Windows ADS integration allows the Synology RS815+/RS815RP+ to quickly and easily fit in an existing business network environment with no need to recreate users’ accounts on the Synology RS815+/ RS815RP+. The User Home feature minimizes the administrator’s effort in creating a private shared folder for a large amount of users. Windows ACL support on RS815+/RS815RP+ provides much finergrained access control and efficient privilege settings, allowing IT staffs to set up privileges to files and folders on RS815+/RS815RP+ through their familiar Windows user interface. The privileges set on Windows ACL will be applied to all access entries, including AFP, FTP, File Station, NFS and WebDAV. The secure privilege offers IT staff peace of mind, no worries about any loopholes.

Advanced backup privilege management makes network backup tasks safer and efficient. Cloud Station with selective sync and ACL control provides real-time data backup and synchronization among multiple computers and mobile devices. Complete backup solutions including Scheduled LUN Snapshot, LUN clone and Backup & Replication minimize the impact of disasters.

Energy Efficient Design

Synology RS815+/RS815RP+ is designed and developed with energy efficiency in mind. Compared with the average storage server counterparts, RS815+/RS815RP+ consume a relatively low amount of power. The support of Wake on LAN/WAN and scheduled power on and off can further reduce power consumption and operation cost. HDD hibernation can be configured to take effect automatically when the system has been inactive for a specified period of time. This not only saves energy but also extends the lifespan of the hard drives.
